I’ve been almost zero carb for 4ish months. I’m considering a carb load with sweet potato the night prior to a powerlifting competition for the extra glycogen to fuel max effort 1 repetition lifts.
Lifting begins at 8 am and ends at 6pm. Normally, zero carb fuels workouts just fine. But normally my workouts are only an hour long.
will the added carb help sustain max power through a full day of lifting? If so, when, how much and what type of carb source do you recommend?
I’ve considered ketogains, shot of glucose just prior to lift, but for a powerlifting meet this means three shots, morning, mid day and evening. Basically glucose all day. This might completely shit off fat burning via insulin.
Ive also considered Ucan superstarch.
Im concerned that changing my routine suddenly the night before might have a negative effect on performance.
Any insight is appreciated.
